Turbomachinery/Propulsion

Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News designs, manufactures, instruments, and assembles complex aero-propulsion rigs and prototypes.  This includes all components of industrial and aerospace gas turbine engines, from inlet systems to exhaust systems.  These test systems are extremely complex, requiring disciplined systems engineering, control of tight part tolerances, and very close attention to detail in all phases of the rig activity.  These rigs and prototypes support the development and transition of advanced technologies into original equipment manufacturer's products through the cost effective, rapid prototyping environment which we maintain in-house.

The development of advanced technology rigs requires sophisticated supporting analyses to verify aerodynamics performance, structural integrity and the dynamic behavior of these complex systems.  We have analytical capabilities and staff to provide advanced engineering analysis, including finite element modeling and analysis for a variety of static, thermal, and dynamic requirements for complex system geometries.

We currently support aerospace and industrial gas turbine customers such as Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, GE Aviation Engines, GE Energy Systems and NASA with design, analysis, manufacture, assembly, instrumentation, calibration, and testing of component rigs and fully assembled engines.

Rolls-Royce awarded us a One-Stop-Shop ("OSS") contract in 2001, making Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News its exclusive supplier of aero-thermal rigs.  This includes the program management of Rolls-Royce's rig supply chain to provide the lowest risk solution for providing technology to products.

Additionally, we provide the same services for rocket engine turbopump rigs and prototypes.  These systems are designed and built utilizing the same in-house skills, capabilities and staff for validation testing of advanced rocket engine technologies.

Industrial Gas Turbines

Triumph Aerospace Systems - Newport News has been able to expand its propulsion customer base beyond aerospace and defense applications into the industrial gas turbine market. GE Power Systems is a customer who purchases our design, analysis, fabrication, instrumentation, assembly, integration and test validation support services.
